Getting to Scott Creek Beach
Getting to Scott Creek Beach
As is the case with most public beaches that attract a following in the summer, Scott Creek Beach requires a good bit of driving – because what kind of beach vacation are you getting without the road trip? The idea of leaving out that part of your oceanic adventure could be seen as equal parts puzzling and frustrating. Driving up to your destination, particularly a beach destination, and eventually driving away is, as far as we're concerned, essential to the experience. That being said, here are instructions for getting to Scott Creek Beach:
Take CA1, and, while you're already north of Davenport, keep your eyes peeled and look for the 31.8 and 31.29 mileposts. It's actually not that hard to find, especially if you consider the fact that Scott Creek Beach actually practically touches the road. The beach itself is level with the highway (meaning the road is ocean level). But if you're still not sure if you have the right place, then you can look for the telephone call box at the northern end of the beach – it's marked SZ-001-318.
We warn you that's it's easy to get your vehicle stuck in the sand, and as such, you are advised to park with your drive wheels closer toward the pavement. Also, don't worry too much about parking; there are two turnouts serving the beach, and they can accommodate sixty to one hundred cars. And like we pointed out, Scott Creek is rarely crowded.
Getting to the beach proper on foot is also easy; there is a bridge, and whether you're coming from the north or south doesn't matter, as long as you're going down. If you're a clothed vacationer, stay close to the highway. If you're a nudist, your area is at the bottom of the cliff.
